Acid Cat Lacquer 10/1010/10Very popular as used by the manufactures of new kitchens conforms to bs 6250 for kitchen severe use resistant to heat, fat and cooking oils, peeling, scratch, chip resistance, steam, boiling water, domestic chemicals,no covid or smell absortion, very long life span etc. You also get the entire kitchen sprayed in any colour of your choice. We use this product for the resons above.
Laminate (HPL)10/104/10High pressure laminate, as for new kitchens only, vast choice of colours textures and affects, made for the modern world plastic coverd mdf bord or chip fiber bord for mass production aplications. the glue degrades and the laminate peels of the surface.
Matt Lacquer4/106/10Sprayed paint surface with higher quality finish than vinyl. MDF core.
Hi Gloss Lacquer6/10Ranging from 4/10 to 10/10Apart from glass, highest quality and hardest wearing gloss finish. Not so expensive as it used to be thanks to massed produced Italian doors but unusual colours will cost a lot.
Structured Lacquer8/106/10Sprayed paint, matt finish with textured surface. Much harder wearing than any other paint finish. Only available from some continental manufacturers. Usually MDF core.
Hand Painted6/108/10Has no advantage over spray painted old painter & decorator products very slow drying, very time consuming to apply, brush marks, expensive on labour, can take up to 5 days to harden before use, no heat resitace, and no bs 6250.
Acrylic4/10Ranging from 4/10 to 8/10Hi Gloss finish that imitates glass but at a fraction of the cost. Comes in 2 forms - thin layer on chipboard base or solid, eg Parapan. Soft surface scratches easily but minor scratches can be polished out.
Vinyl Wrap4/102/10Not popular due to easy peeling and failer due to heat, domestic chemicals, moisture, etc, no bs6250 recomendation very costly to do and time consuming often only do the doors so what about the rest of the
kitchen????.
Foil2/102/10Often confused with vinyl wrap but paper based instead. old technology and not often used now. Avoidance is recommended.
Solid Timber8/10Ranging from 4/10 to 8/10Large range of light and dark timbers available. most flat panelled doors will have a solid timber frame and a veneered panel. Wood doors darken with age but can also be bleached by constant exposure to strong sunlight.

Revitalise the look of your kitchen for a fraction of the cost of a new one.
